Our Church School

At St Mary’s, our Christian foundation is at the heart of who we are and shapes the life of our school. Rooted in our vision of “Shining Brighter and Brighter” (Proverbs 4:18), we are committed to creating an inclusive community in which every child and adult is valued, encouraged to grow in wisdom and supported to flourish.

Our Christian values of Respect, Courage, Love, Forgiveness, Kindness and Joy help us to put our vision into action. They shape our relationships, our choices and the way we learn and live together as a community.

Through Collective Worship, Religious Education, spiritual development and our pupil-generated Big Questions, children are given opportunities to encounter Christian teaching, explore faith and different worldviews, ask meaningful questions and reflect on their own beliefs, experiences and values. We encourage children to be curious, to think deeply and to recognise that their own questions and responses matter.

Our Christian character is something we seek to live, not simply talk about. Children are encouraged to turn reflection into action: showing compassion, making courageous choices, serving others and considering how they can make a positive difference within our school, our local community and the wider world.

Working closely with our churches, families and wider community, we seek to provide a place where everyone is welcomed, spirituality can be explored in meaningful ways, and each person is supported on their own journey of “Shining Brighter and Brighter.”
