Welcome to St Mary's School.
I am extremely proud to be Head teacher of St Mary's, where children and adults work together to achieve the very best they can in all aspects of school life. Our small size and natural setting, combined with our Christian values, results in a happy school with a nurturing and stimulating learning environment. This not only delivers excellent academic results but also offers our children a wide range of additional enrichment opportunities.
Our exciting, progressive curriculum makes the most of our forest school, large school field and stream running through the grounds. School trips and visitors provide popular enrichment opportunities. Recent examples include: Paralympian Luke Delahunty, Berkhamsted Hockey Club and a Woodrow House visit. We also offer residential opportunities, shows, music concerts, rounders, skipping competitions, to name but a few.
We provide a range of extracurricular clubs such as Running Club, Ross & Andy’s football and Chess Club. A vital part of the Northchurch community, we enjoy close relationships with St Mary’s church and Sunnyside Rural Trust. St Mary’s is a Growth Mindset school where both children and adults value learning by mistakes. We also have a strong focus on mindfulness, which culminates with a dedicated ‘Feeling Good’ week
Our enthusiastic School Association not only raise valuable funds for the school but also provides many social events such as movie nights, quizzes and school fairs. We encourage parents and carers to get involved with St Mary’s via open classroom evenings, reading support and volunteering.
Our most recent OFSTED inspection (July 2017) described St Mary's as ‘a lovely, caring but driven environment’. In addition, our 2019 SIAMS inspection stated that, ‘Children and adults flourish in an atmosphere of genuine compassion and respect for each other.’
Do come and visit us and to see what makes St Mary’s such a special place. Please contact the school office on 01442 388040 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to make an appointment. You can also take a look around by viewing our Virtual Tour.
