Green Team

The Green Team

Our Green Team is made up of passionate Year 4 and Year 5 children who care deeply about the environment and work closely with staff to raise awareness of environmental issues – both internationally and closer to home.

The team takes practical action around the school, including:

• Carrying out regular litter picks.
• Helping with school recycling.
• Reminding everyone to be energy aware by switching off lights and closing doors.
• Promoting clean air and wellbeing by caring for the school’s plants.

They discuss environmental issues that affect us all and run campaigns to raise awareness across the school. The Green Team also implements ideas from their peers and delivers assemblies to educate pupils about how to reduce, recycle and reuse. They look for ways to improve our school and local environment and are well known for donning their wellies to clear the river that runs through the school grounds.

Clothes & Garment Recycling Bin

Have you spotted our fantastic garment recycling bin at the front of the school? Not only does it raise money for St Mary’s, but it’s also a great environmental initiative and a real community asset. Tell your friends and family all about it and let’s get recycling!
