Welcome !

We are so excited to welcome your children into our Reception class. We also say hello to the wonderful Mrs Chamberlain. Its a new chapter for us all this year.

Our Reception class is part of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). We believe in a play based approach that is suited to your child's unique and individual interests. It is so important that we work together to build on interests at home; please show us what your child is interested in at home  and we will endeavour to keep you updated on school life. The Tapestry is a an amazing resource that helps with this . Please don't hesitate to contact me if you would like any further help using the Tapestry or indeed on any aspect of the EYFS.

If you have any queries you can also talk to your class rep Mrs Brazil. If you would like to contact me then please use the class email

I have already given your child a reading book, please can your child have this at school every day in their book bag. I will change these books weekly. However I may hear your child read at any time during the week.

Every child should have a NAMED book bag in school daily , it is a really good idea to add a keyring to this bag to make it easily identifiable. The children are encouraged to be independent and find their own bags.

I already have a collection of unnamed cardigans. Please name everything!

I have added a document entitled What to Expect when and its a really good guide for parents for what your child's development looks like. Its a big document and its all interesting but if you want the Reception section its from page 70! It's a big document and just recently revised to match the new Early Years reforms.  I will add it as a file also.
