St. Mary's

C.E. Primary School

Year 1

Welcome to Year 1!

Staff:

Teachers- Mrs Zimet and Mrs Stewart

Teaching Assistant- Mrs O'Dell

Welcome to Year ! It has been my pleasure to meet the new class and I have been very impressed with how well they have already settled into the new routine.

The first half term in Year 1 will mirror the familiar learning environment of the EYFS. Therefore the classroom has been organised into zones which allow the children the opportunuity to learn through their play, including a role play area, a construction area and an outside area.

Below is a copy of the Autumn 1 curriculum letter which will give you more information about what to expect this half term as well as the PowerPoint from the Transition from Reception to Year 1 meeting which was held at the end of last term.

At St Mary's, we use the Read, Write Inc scheme to teach phonics. Below, you will find a guide to how this scheme works. This will give you an idea of how to help your child progress with their reading at home.

If you have any questions or concerns, please either catch one of us at the door before or after school or contact us via email:
