School Dinners

At lunchtime, you may arrange for your child to have a school dinner or bring a packed lunch from home.

Hertfordshire Catering Limited provides our school meals in line with current Government guidelines. School meals are a good opportunity for the children to develop their social skills and can play a major part in broadening children’s attitudes to what foods they will and will not eat! For all these reasons, we like as many children as possible to use the school meals service.  Please see the menu offered by Hertfordshire Catering below.

Pupils make their meal choices each day.

Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 continue to be eligible for the Universal Free School Meals programme.  School meals cost £3.65 (from April 2026) for children in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6.

Packed Lunches

A balanced packed lunch helps children stay energised and ready to learn. A simple way to build one is to include a filling main item, such as a sandwich, wrap, pasta or rice; some fruit and vegetables; and a drink. Cheese, yoghurt, eggs, chicken or beans can add variety. Carrot sticks, cucumber slices, peppers and pieces of fruit are easy extras to try. Water is the best everyday drink.
We ask parents and carers not to include chocolate or fizzy drinks in packed lunches. For more ideas and recipes, visit the NHS Healthier Families lunchbox page. Please remember that recipes on other websites may include ingredients that are not permitted at our school.
Nuts, sesame and products containing them must not be brought into school because some pupils have serious food allergies. Please check ingredient labels carefully. Sesame may be listed as tahini or sesame paste and is often found in hummus.
