Year 1

Welcome to Year 1!

Staff:

Teachers- Mrs Zimet and Mrs Stewart

Teaching Assistants- Mrs O'Dell and Mrs Evans

 Autumn term:

As part of Black History Month, Year one have been looking at the stories of Anansi the spider from Ghana. We have loved learning new songs and retelling the stories in drama and in writing.

We retold the story of how Anansi got his 8 skinny legs and wrote our own versions of the story. I have been so impressed with the effort the children have put in and wanted to show off our fantastic writing! Here is a photograph of some of their work.

We love going to Forest School and we finished off our first half term in Year 1 by toasting marshmallows on the campfire. Some of us got rather messy!!

Information about Year 1:

Below is the new Curriculum letter for Autumn 2. Please read and find out about all of the fun things to expect this half term!

I have also added a document which will help you to understand how we teach phonics in Year 1 using Read Write Inc. This will give you an idea of the order the sounds are taught as well as some of the methods used. There are also some useful links which will provide further support.
